3 large onions, sliced into rings
1 cup self-rising flour
1 egg, beaten
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup water
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
3/4 teaspoon salt
Vegetable oil for deep-frying
Soak the onion rings in a bowl of ice water for 30 minutes; drain well.
Combine the flour, egg, milk, water, oil and salt in a bowl and mix well.
Dip each onion ring in the batter and fry in hot oil until golden brown.
