Meet Our Farmers
Anita Simpson
Anita Simpson is a citrus grower and member of Florida's Natural Growers, a farmer owned cooperative.
It was her husband's family, she recalls, who were among the early settlers in the Mount Dora area and likely planted one of the first citrus groves.
A strong believer in farmer cooperatives, she says it is through cooperatives like Florida's Natural Growers that smaller farmers are able to remain competitive and "keep our heads above water."
A mother and grandmother she also understands the decisions mothers must make as consumers to keep their family happy and healthy. She remains confident in the fact that when people buy orange juice from Florida oranges, they know "it's made with the best fruit in the world."
